Hi, today I was contemplating my approach to pairings, and how I am rather inflexible about the canon parings in Junjo Romantica (Usagi-san/Misaki, Nowaki/Hiro-san, Miyagi/Shinobu).
For some reason I
hate the non canon pairings of this, particularly Nowaki/Misaki DX, and Miyagi/Hiroki DX. I mean logically I can get Usagi-san/Shinobu but that's about it for the non canon.
(edit because of concern of causing offence: As for the forceful-ness, I really do dislike them greatly. I mean good luck to those who enjoy them. I'm glad they do. Just they're definitely not my cup of tea. For those that do, BE HAPPY! have fun, I just wont join you in your paroxysms of joy. :) )
Though I
would like to see Haruhiko/Isaka! XD
This is quite different to things like Inuyasha where I can see Sessh/Inu, Kouga/Inu and Miroku/Inu (but not Naraku/Inu, yuck! DX).
Really it's quite odd.
I mean I'm inflexible about many things. But I can conceptualize really well.
I suspect it's because the other pairings don't work with my characterization of the protagonists.
For example, part of the reason I hate Nowaki/Misaki is because both characters are intensely loyal and honourable and so would never betray their partners (which is a common theme in the fanfics) and because Nowaki needs to coddle his lover whereas Misaki needs to be cherished but not smothered, he's already had far to much of that from his brother. Also Misaki needs to be needed/useful, not just adored as Nowaki seems prone to do to Hiroki.
Ah, what pointless badly written drivel. My apologies.
In return I will give you a plot bunny. One day Nowaki comes home with a book by Akikawa Yayoi. He was given it by a patient as it's a copy of her favourite book, and he's gay so he won't mind even if the content is a bit unreal. Nowaki greatly enjoys it and decides to try it out of Hiroki when he returns from a conference in a few days.
The results are spectacular.
Nowaki begins to buy more of Akikawa's books and uses them for reference most effectively.
However, one dat Hiroki spots one and asks why Nowaki has one of Bakahiko's porn books.
Of course Nowaki decides to discreetly visit Akihiko and enquire as to
why his descriptions of Hiro-san are so accurate.
When he arrives it is mid Misaki rant about being gay. He makes several comments about why he is comfortable with his sexuality, which really takes the wind out of Misaki's sails.
In return for this favour Akihiko becomes a fount of knowledge for Nowaki and agrees to be a little less accurate in his descriptions lest Nowaki get angry (he looks quite murderous at the idea of his Hiro-san with anyone else).
Thus begins the more unusual sexual exploits of Nowaki and Hiroki.
Eventually Hiroki reads one of the porn books and recognises Nowaki's technique.
He confronts Bakahiko about it, who is unrepentant and refuses to stop. He is too embarassed to talk to Nowaki about it.
So he comes up with an interesting variety of revenge.
He becomes friends with Misaki and teaches him all Usagi-san's little hates and likes and his physical queues etc. This makes Misaki much more proficient at avoiding and manipulating Akihiko. He doesn't like it because it's harder to catch him off guard.
The unholy alliance of the ukes eventually extends to Shinobu (in revenge for Miyagi loosing him status in the eyes of the Dean). And of course to Miyagi for the semes also. Thus there are drinking parties (by both groups), cooking lessons (by both groups XD) and exchanges of sexual techniques (by both groups). XD
Feel free to use. :) I'd love to read it.
Also I'm interested in other peoples approach to canon and non canon pairings, particularly in Junjo. Tell me what you think? :)
Ronnie. :)
